Design: Contour Design Build

Located in the foothills of Central Oregon’s Cascade Mountains, this Accessory Dwelling Unit was designed & built to provide a primary living space for the property owner and open up the existing residence as a rental/investment opportunity.

Sustainable and environmentally focused building practices were priority number one on this project, and we opted to work with Earth Advantage out or Portland, OR to consult and help inform the process. We used FSC certified lumber and cabinets, staggered stud framing to eliminate the thermal bridge, oversized roof rafters for a higher R-Value, and Energy Star appliances as a starting point. From there we explored our heating/cooling & ventilation options and sourced locally whenever possible. In the end we built a lovely & comfortable space that all parties involved could be proud of.
